Cookie policy
This site sets no cookies of its own and does not track you. The only thing it stores itself is your language preference, in your own browser, and only if you choose a language with the EN / FR / NL switch. To protect the contact form against spam, Google reCAPTCHA is loaded once you start using the form, and Google may then set or read its own cookies.
In short
This policy applies to the website of AMA European Consulting SRL (‘AMA’, ‘we’, ‘us’). It explains what the site stores on your device when you visit it, what it does not, and what Google reCAPTCHA may store or read there once you start using the contact form.
- No cookies from AMA: the site sets none itself. Once you start using the contact form, Google may set or read its own cookies through reCAPTCHA (see ‘Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form’).
- No tracking: no analytics or audience measurement, no advertising. The only third-party script is Google reCAPTCHA, which protects the contact form against spam and is loaded only once you start using the form.
- One preference stored in your browser: the language you chose with the EN / FR / NL switch, only if you use it. It never leaves your device.
- No consent banner: the language preference and reCAPTCHA are used only for services you ask for, and AMA relies for both on the exception for what is strictly necessary (see ‘Why there is no consent banner’).
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser and that the browser then sends back to that website with each request. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are first-party cookies; those set by other companies whose content the site loads (advertising networks, analytics providers, social networks) are third-party cookies.
Other technologies work in a similar way, such as the browser’s local storage, which keeps information on your device without sending it with each request. The European rules (the ePrivacy Directive) treat all of them like cookies as soon as a website stores or reads information on your device. This policy therefore covers cookies and these similar technologies alike.
Features of your browser itself, such as its history, its cache or its offer to remember what you type in forms, are governed by your browser and your settings, not by this policy.
What this site stores
Apart from Google reCAPTCHA (see the next section), this site stores a single item on your device, in your browser’s local storage, and only if you choose a language with the EN / FR / NL switch.
Here is everything there is to know about it:
- Name: ama-lang.
- Content: the language you chose, as a two-letter code (‘en’, ‘fr’ or ‘nl’). Nothing else: no identifier, no date, no information about you or about your visit.
- Purpose: to show you the site in that language when you come back.
- When it is set: only when you click EN, FR or NL in the language switch. Simply visiting a page stores nothing. Choosing another language replaces the stored value.
- Duration: it has no expiry date and stays until you delete it in your browser’s settings, or until your browser deletes it, for example when you close a private browsing window.
- Who can read it: only this site’s pages, in your browser, under the browser’s security rules. It is never sent to AMA or to anyone else, and AMA cannot see it.
Without it, the site simply uses the language of the address you open: English for addresses without a prefix, French for those starting with /fr, Dutch for those starting with /nl.
Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form
To protect the contact form against spam and automated abuse, the site uses reCAPTCHA v3, a Google service provided in Europe by Google Ireland Limited. It is invisible: it asks you to solve nothing and works in the background.
Here is what you need to know about it:
- When it is loaded: only once you start using the contact form, the first time you click or tap in it, or press a key while you are in it. Until then, nothing is loaded from Google, even when a button or link takes you to the form. Once loaded, Google’s script stays active in that browser tab for the rest of your visit.
- What it stores or reads: Google may set or read cookies on its own domain, such as _GRECAPTCHA, and use Google cookies already present in your browser. These are Google’s cookies, not AMA’s: AMA does not set them and cannot read them.
- What it analyses: technical data such as your IP address, information about your browser and device, and your interactions with the page, to tell people from automated programs.
- What AMA receives: when you send the form, reCAPTCHA provides a token, which the form sends to AMA with your request. AMA’s server checks it with Google and keeps neither the token nor the score Google returns.
- Google’s own use: according to Google, the information collected is used to improve reCAPTCHA and for general security purposes, and is not used for personalised advertising. How long Google keeps its cookies and this information is set by Google’s own policies.
- The notice: the floating reCAPTCHA badge is hidden. Instead, a notice under the form’s send button says that the site is protected by reCAPTCHA and that Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply, with a link to each.
These cookies and this information are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Terms of Service (policies.google.com/terms). How AMA handles your request and the token is explained in our Privacy policy.
If you do not want Google reCAPTCHA to be used, do not use the form: write to us at operations@ama-ec.com instead.
What this site does not use
- No cookies set by the site: neither AMA nor its hosting provider (Amazon Web Services: Amazon S3 and CloudFront) sets any on this site. The only cookies that may come into play are Google’s own, through reCAPTCHA, once you start using the contact form.
- No analytics or audience measurement tools, such as Google Analytics or Matomo, and no heatmaps.
- No advertising, no retargeting, no tracking pixels, and no tracking of any other kind by AMA, including across other websites.
- No social media plugins or share buttons. The link to our LinkedIn page is a plain link: nothing is loaded from LinkedIn unless you click it.
- No embedded videos or maps. The link to our address opens Google Maps; apart from reCAPTCHA on the contact form, nothing is loaded from Google on this site.
- No chat widget.
- No third-party scripts other than Google reCAPTCHA, loaded only once you start using the contact form. The site’s font, Outfit, is hosted on the site itself: it is not fetched from Google Fonts.
The contact form is sent only to AMA’s own server interface (API); to check the reCAPTCHA token, that server sends Google the token only. No data is shared with advertisers.
Why there is no consent banner
The ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, article 5(3)) and the Belgian rules that transpose it require your consent before a website stores or reads information on your device. They make an exception when that storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested.
Storing the ama-lang preference falls within this exception: it happens only when you choose a language, and only so that the site can keep showing you that language.
AMA also relies on this exception for Google reCAPTCHA. It is loaded only when you start using the contact form, that is, when you set about requesting the service that form provides, and only to protect that service against spam and automated abuse. Apart from these two, nothing is stored on or read from your device, which is why the site shows no cookie banner. This policy informs you of both all the same, and if you do not want reCAPTCHA to be used, you can write to us at operations@ama-ec.com instead of using the form.
If AMA ever adds audience measurement or any other tool that is not strictly necessary, we will first update this policy and ask for your consent, through a banner, before any such tool is used.
Technical logs
As for any website, the site’s hosting and the server that receives the contact form keep technical logs for security purposes: IP address, date and time, the address requested and the type of browser. These logs are kept on the servers, not on your device: they are not cookies, and they are not used to track you.
How they are handled is explained in our Privacy policy, available from the links at the bottom of the site.
Other websites
Some links on this site take you to other websites, which set their own cookies under their own policies. AMA has no control over them:
- ice-berry (ice-berry.com), the platform on which AMA publishes its job offers: the pages of the offers, the list of AMA’s open roles, the page for posting a job and ice-berry’s job board. When you use the job search, you are taken to that job board, which receives the words you searched for.
- LinkedIn, for our company page.
- Google Maps, for our address.
- Your webmail (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo Mail, iCloud Mail or Proton Mail), if you use the shortcut to your mailbox that may be offered after you send the form. This site does not pass the email address you entered on to it.
These websites only come into play once you open them. We invite you to read their cookie and privacy policies. Google reCAPTCHA, which comes into play on this site when you use the contact form, is described above.
The list of job offers on the home page currently comes with the page itself. In the future, your browser may refresh that list directly from ice-berry’s servers. Such a request would set no cookie and send nothing you have entered on this site; like any request on the web, it would show ice-berry your IP address.
How to delete or block this storage
You can delete ama-lang, or stop the site from storing anything, at any time in your browser’s settings. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all let you, in their privacy settings, delete the data of a single site (ama-ec.com) or of every site, and block sites from storing data. The name of the menu varies from one browser and version to another; it usually mentions ‘cookies and site data’ or ‘website data’.
Most browsers treat local storage like cookies: settings that delete or block a site’s cookies generally apply to it too. In a private browsing window, it is deleted when you close the window.
Deleting or blocking it only means that your language choice is not remembered: the site then uses the language of the address you open. Everything else works the same, including the language switch during your visit.
You can also delete or block Google’s cookies in your browser’s settings, or block Google’s script, for example with an extension. The contact form may then be unable to check your request and refuse to send it: in that case, write to us at operations@ama-ec.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, in particular if the site or the applicable rules change. The date of the last update is shown on this page.
Before adding any cookie or tool that requires your consent, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
